How to Make Főzelék?
- 300 grams green peas
- 500 ml water
- 150 ml milk
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 2 teaspoons brown sugar
- ½ chicken stock cube
- Salt as needed
For sausage crisps (10 pieces):
- 2 hot dogs
- 200 grams potatoes
- 50 grams flour
- 100 grams cheese
- Water as needed
- crumbled basil as needed
- pepper as needed
- salt as needed
- Oil as needed
First, prepare the vegetables. To do this, put the peas, sugar, chicken stock cube
and salt in a saucepan. Pour water over it and let the water reach the boiling point.
Mix the flour with the milk using a hand whisk. Keep stirring until milk and flour are well mixed, then add the mixture to the peas while stirring continuously. As soon as it thickens, it’s ready.
Note: If you do not want your Főzelék to be too thick, add a little water.
Wash the potatoes and dice and boil them in salted water. When it is softened, press it with a potato masher and cool it to lukewarm.
For the top of your Főzelék soup, you can fry sausage, chicken or meat. You can also grate the cheese and cut the sausage into 10 parts. Pour flour, cheese, potatoes and spices into a bowl and knead until smooth.
Divide the dough into 10 parts. Roll them out one by one, place a hot dog in the middle, then fold the dough over them and shape them into balls.
Put the sausages on a floured plate. Heat the oil in the pan, then fry the balls on medium heat for 10 minutes until golden brown. It is an excellent choice with other cooked vegetables eaten with salads. You can also serve it with dip cheese as a party dish!
