  • 5 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 finely chopped onion
  • 1 finely chopped garlic clove
  • 120 grams sandwich bread
  • 250 grams of ground pork
  • 250 grams of ground beef
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon mint, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon oregano, dry
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Pepper as needed
  • 1 liter sunflower oil
  • All-purpose flour for the frying

Directions

Step One

Place a frying pan with 2 tablespoons of olive oil over high heat and let it heat up well. Add the onion and the garlic, and sauté them for 1 minute.

Step Two

Mix with a wooden spoon and sauté for 1 more minute. Remove the pan from the heat. Put the bread in a bowl with water and allow it to soak for 2-3 minutes. Squeeze the bread with your hands to remove all the water and transfer it to another bowl. 

Step Three

In the bowl, add the ground pork and beef, the eggs, mint, parsley, oregano, cumin, salt, pepper, the rest of the olive oil, the sauteed onions and garlic, and knead them well with your hands, wearing gloves.

Step Four

After kneading the ingredients well, cover the bowl with cellophane and refrigerate it for 1 hour. Place a frying pan with the sunflower oil over high heat and allow it to heat up well.

Step Five

Place a baking pan with some flour on your worktop. Remove the bowl from the refrigerator, shape the mixture into 20-25 grams of balls, and put them in the pan with the flour.
